Japan–Malaysia Food Innovation Initiative Forum Strengthens Bilateral Collaboration in Food Technology

The Japan–Malaysia Food Innovation Initiative Forum was successfully held at the Japanese Ambassador’s Residence, bringing together industry leaders, innovators and government representatives from both countries to discuss advancements and future opportunities in the food technology and innovation.

Hosted by Sustainable Food Asia and supported by the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia, the forum was graced by H.E. Shikata Noriyuki, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Malaysia. In his address, he emphasised the importance of strengthening bilateral collaboration to drive sustainable food innovation and foster mutually beneficial partnerships between Japan and Malaysia.

The forum featured presentations, product highlights and business-matching sessions that connected Japanese innovators with Malaysian industry players. Building on these exchanges, Cosyoung and Lumi shared more about their youth-focused branding, functional food concept and commitment to sustainability, alongside a “nourishing beauty from the inside out” philosophy that links everyday nutrition with modern beauty and wellness. Discussions explored themes such as functional foods, food safety, sustainable production and the role of Japan–Malaysia collaboration in accelerating sector growth.

Representatives from both countries expressed strong interest in continued cooperation through innovation exchange, technology transfer and cross-border partnerships aimed at elevating food standards, safety and quality in Malaysia.

The forum concluded on a positive note, reinforcing the long-standing friendship and shared commitment between Japan and Malaysia in advancing the region’s food innovation ecosystem.
